KELSO High have claimed the 2013 CKC Cup after beating Canobolas Rural Technology High School yesterday.
The sides met in the second round of this year’s inter-school competition between Kelso, Canobolas and Cowra High.
Kelso had scored a big win over Cowra in last week’s first tie.
When Kelso beat Canobolas 52-36 yesterday in Orange, it gave Kelso the cup.
Canobolas High CKC Cup coordinator Amanda Rouse said she couldn’t fault the efforts of the Orange students.
“The kids played really well in all sports,” Rouse said.
“The kids were outstanding today.”
The CKC Cup includes touch football, football (soccer), volleyball, basketball, netball, hockey and debating.
Most events are divided into Years 7 and 8, and Years 9 and 10 divisions for the boys and girls.
Canobolas had big wins in both divisions of the boys’ basketball.
The Orange school were underdogs in the boys’ hockey but came out clear 8-2 winners.
The Canobolas Years 7 and 8 girls’ netball team enjoyed their first Cup victory.
There were also some tight results with draws played out in the Years 7 and 8 boys’ soccer and the Years 9 and 10 girls touch football.
Canobolas will travel to Cowra on Thursday next week for the final tie of the event, hoping to go out on a high note.
A win to Canobolas would ensure they finish second in this year’s edition of the Cup.
