WITH 90 seconds left in today's Group 10 Rugby League major semi-final, and Orange CYMS leading 11-10, Orange Hawks were gone.
But, in easily the best finish to a Group 10 game in 2013, Hawks centre Brock McGarity nailed a 45-metre penalty goal from just to the left of the uprights to send the two blues directly into this year’s grand final and the Wade Park crowd into raptures.
It’s the first time in a decade Hawks has qualified for a Group 10 premier league grand final and the first time since 2010 Wade Park will host the event.
The 12-11 victory will give Hawks an extra week to recover from what was a bruising derby.
CYMS, on the other hand, will have to do it all again against Lithgow Workies next Sunday.
