IT’S semi-final action a week early in division one of the Orange Netball Association premiership, with Life Studio facing off against OHS High A today at Anzac Park.
The final round of the 2013 regular season comes to a head this afternoon and with nearly every position in the ONA’s top four all but assured, the Life Studio and High A game takes on the greatest significance.
Robin Hood (35 points) can finish minor premiers with a win over Hawks John Davis Motors.
However, should the second-placed Life Studio (34) go down to High A (32) and Royal Hawks (32), currently third on percentage, put together a strong performance against KWS 1sts, the two blues could potentially leap-frog Life Studio into the top two.
Life Studio gun Mardi Aplin conceded should results go against her side today then her team will “most definitely” finish third.
But considering the fledging club has had, Aplin was still rapt.
“Being our first year as a new club and having to deal with no players, injuries, players away, pregnancies, it’s been a tough year,” Aplin said, with Life Studio undefeated until being forced to forfeit their round 10 clash with Robin Hood.
“I’m really proud of the girls who have been there each week.
“To be in a position to finish the year in second, I’m proud of the club and hopefully we can re-group and finish the back end of the year strong.”
High A is on a high following their penultimate round 55-28 win over Hawks JDM.
The week prior they also defeated competition leaders Robin Hood 56-46.
“Every year (High A) gets better and better as the season goes on,” Aplin said looking ahead to today’s game.
“We never have taken High A lightly and never will.”
