GOT old car or truck batteries sitting around your yard, shed or house?
Orange North Rotary Club wants your old batteries to help raise funds for the Western Care Lodge.
The club sells the old batteries with funds raised donated to help fund the construction of stage two of the lodge.
Orange North Rotary Club president Paul Derrig said they have so far raised over $18,000 from the sale of old batteries and they hoped that with winter now upon us more batteries would become available.
“Unfortunately for many motorists winter is a bad time and many batteries fail once the cold weather strikes,” he said.
“Our club has a number of collection points in Orange where batteries can be left or we can call and collect them if required.
“This is a good way to raise fund for the lodge and it removes old batteries from the environment.
“Our aim is to raise $50,000 this year for the Western Care Lodge second stage and our battery drive is one way we hope to achieve this.”
The club has already donated $50,000 to the lodge for stage one, and this second donation is part of the club’s commitment to the Orange community.
Old batteries can be left at The Door Store at 142 Gardiner Road (around the corner from Piesley Street), Midwest Signs at 10 Piesley Street, Lucknow Pumps at 3 Newman Street, Lucknow, or Betta Home Appliances at 43 William Street.
