THE City of Orange Eisteddfod committee has just hosted another highly successful groups dance weekend with groups travelling from the central and far west and the ACT.
In what was an exercise in logistics, the groups were all allocated various areas of the Orange Function Centre and the Orange Civic Theatre to transition on and off the stage quickly.
Each session over Friday, Saturday and Sunday enjoyed full houses with many sessions sold out prior to the event.
Adjudicator Kerri Hauber had a difficult tasks as groups performing ranged in size from five to 30.
However, she wasn’t necessarily looking for advanced technique.
“The most important thing about dancing in a group is unison,” she said.
Ms Hauber said keeping arm movements together and lines straight during changes in patterns in a routine were the most important factors in group dance work.
Last night the group dance sections concluded and this week the eisteddfod moves into the sections comprising more advanced students in the older age groups.
Tickets for sessions this week at the Orange Civic Theatre are available at the door.
