The students enjoyed a visit from professor Warren Somerville AM, collector and donator of the Somerville Collection, to talk about fossils.
School principal Len Elliot said professor Somerville gave a great talk on collecting relics.
“He brought along some items from the Somerville Collection,” Mr Elliot said.
“He gave them a talk on the preparations he goes through before he does a dig.”
Following the talk students went outside to search for dinosaur bones that had been hidden at the school.
“One thought it [the bones] was a single animal because all the bones were found in the same place,” Mr Elliott said.
“They said the skull looked like a tyrannosaurus rex.
“It was fantastic, they thought it was the greatest thing ever.”
Mr Elliott said this was just an example of the fun and educational things the school does for its students.
“They do some exciting things here in the primary school, it’s great,” he said.
