A close shave for God's Groovy Girls

TWO of these brave ladies have made the decision to shave their heads all in the name of charity.

Wendy Davidson and Emily Walker will lose their long locks on Tuesday to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.

Reverend Anne Neville, from St Barnabas Anglican Church, Liz Smith and Anni Gallagher dyed their hair yesterday to support the cause.

Mrs Davidson said they had come together in a team called God’s Groovy Girls to do a good thing for charity.

“I’m going for a number two,” she said.

“We’ve had a lot of people in our church community that are going down the cancer road.”

Mrs Davidson said it was all worth it if they could have a bit of fun and raise awareness.

For 14-year-old Emily who is in year 9 at Orange Christian School, the decision to shave was done with the support of the school.

“It’ll be done in front of a full school assembly,” she said.

“I’m doing it for a good cause ... some girls [at the school] have been really supportive.”

Reverend Neville will colour her hair in support of her team and cause.

“I’m going red, pink, purple and copper,” she said.

“My first thought was rainbow.”

Mrs Davidson and Emily will shave their hair on Tuesday at the Orange Christian School.
