Bray climbs to the top

WENTWORTH’S Steve Bray has surged to the top of the overall A grade standings thanks to a second round scratch score of 73 in yesterday’s City of Orange Veterans Golf Classic.

Competing on day two at Orange Ex-Services Country Club golf course, Bray hit the scratch score of the day to take his two-day total to 149.

Bray leads day one leader, clubmate Chris Riley (Wentworth) on 152.

Shelley Beach’s James Forrester hit the handicap total of the day, scoring a net 65 while Graham Richardson (Tamworth) was second on day two with 68 net.

Wentworth Falls golfer Jim Addison is dominating the men’s B grade competition.

Addison’s scratch total of 88 at Country Club was the score of the day while it also brought about the net score of the day, with the 19-marker earning a net 69.

John Tugman is the overall leader on a two-day scratch total of 168.

C grade is Nick Babic’s for the taking.

The Howlong member backed up his impressive day one performance with 89 off the stick, edging out Liverpool’s John Elliot and Wentworth’s Arthur Fuller, both with 94 off the stick.

Babic leads the two-day scratch standings on 174. John Elliot is second with 181.

Babic also hit the best handicap score of the round, with 67 net.

Pauline Lawrence is leading the women’s A grade stableford event, with her second round score of 39 giving her a two-round total of 72.

Jill Roach is second with a two-round total of 68.

Following yesterday’s round at Wentworth, Lyn Elliot is on top of B grade with 69 points after two rounds while in C grade, Bridget Sant, from St George’s Basin, hit 41 points to give her a two-round total of 77.

Today is a rest day at the Veterans Classic, with the third day played tomorrow with the men at Wentworth and the women at Duntryleague.
