Relay for Life over for another year

The Orange and District Relay for Life has concluded for another year with around 1,000 weary people heading home for a shower and a sleep.

A provisional sum of $111,000 raised was announced this morning, before participants headed off on the final lap of this year's relay event.

Head of the volunteer organising committee Nicole Downey thanked everyone in an emotional address.

Mrs Downey said that unlike people who are unwell and battling cancer, she has her own hair, and will be able to bath, feed and hold her children close.

"But I will cry for all those who we couldn't help," Mrs Downey said.
