I WOULD like to congratulate retiring councillor Peter Hetherington for his contribution to Orange City Council over a number of terms of office.
I believe Peter has always acted in the best interest of the ratepayers on every facet and issue under local government jurisdiction.
I thought the article in the Central Western Daily in November 2011 where you state your attendance at council over a long period of time has been outstanding and your absence was due to sincere family commitments really needed no explanation.
Ninety-nine per cent of Australians are fair and decent-minded people and would fully understand and wholeheartedly support you in your actions and commitment to your family.
As indicated in the November article, councillor Reg Kidd’s refusal to apologise after calling councillors’non-attendance at meetings disgraceful in my opinion showed a lack of respect to certain aspects of someone’s personal life. I am sure all of your other fellow councillors appreciate your actions and your solid contribution as well.
Peter, congratulations and best wishes to you and your family.
Kevin Duffy,
Borenore
