Morgan Brothers Ball waltzes in with $30,000

OVER $30,000 was raised at the Morgan Brothers Ball on Saturday to help support the families of Trent and Steven Morgan.

Trent Morgan was tragically killed in a car accident on November 24, 2012, while his brother Steven Morgan was left injured and fighting for his life in hospital.

The brothers had played football for many years in the Orange region and the tragic accident struck a chord with many in the district.

Since the accident, the Morgan Family Trust fundraising committee has rallied to raise funds to help support the grieving families.

Morgan Family Trust fundraising committee chairperson Tenielle Hill said the ball was very well supported by the business and sporting communities.

“We wanted to raise as much money as we could and about 400 people were there and had lots of donations,” she said.

“The Morgan family is very well-known throughout Orange and the community,” she said.

“It was very overwhelming the amount of support we got, it was very much appreciated by the committee.”

Ms Hill said they received many donations to help raise funds on the night from businesses and individuals.

“People that had memorabilia that they owned personally that they donated,” she said.

“Your normal everyday people that donated things they had.”

The committee has held various other fundraising events since the tragic accident and a final figure is still yet to be reached.

There will also be a junior football clinic this Sunday at Endeavour Oval after it was cancelled from its original date due to heavy rain.

It is open for juniors of all abilities, even those who are not fans of rugby league.

There will be a range of activities other than football including face painting, competitions and a barbecue lunch.

The football clinic kicks off at 11am and cost is $5 per child.

If you would like to donate to the trust you can go online to Orange Credit Union or take your donation into the branch.
