Tree branch causes blackout

ALMOST 4,000 homes in North Orange were without power for an hour and a half today.

The outage was caused by the branch of a tree which fell over high powered lines on Leeds Parade around 1pm.

Orange Police were called to North Orange to direct traffic at the busy intersection controlled by lights near the Shopping Centre.

A spokesperson for Essential Energy said the high winds in Orange this morning were responsible for the branch falling on the lines.

Power to the area was restored at 2.30pm.
