Final places go down to the wire

THIS morning’s Konami City of Orange Golden Eagle Pairs Classic final round matches will decide at least two sectional winners.

After yesterday’s third and fourth rounds, sections six and seven are going down to the wire.

Defending champions George Ford and Bob Hamilton must beat section five leaders, North Sydney’s Gerard Kebourian and Brendan Brown, to earn a place in this afternoon’s quarter-finals.

Ford and Hamilton yesterday enjoyed a 23-shot win over Paul Davis and Garry Marriage before beating Craig Troth and John Beatty by four shots.

Kebourian and Brown edged out Alby Gibbs and Richard Latta by a shot before downing Max Low and Keith Hardwick by nine shots.

In section six, Glen Robinson and Bob Wilson will take on Graham Barby and Col Hayward with the winner moving into the quarter-finals.

Glen Raymond and Phil Westcott are favourites in section seven, Barry Lambert and Paul Gonzales are on top in section two, and Mick Djatschenko and Steve Galvin have a slight lead in section three.

There are three pairs capable of taking top spot in both section one and section four.

Play resumes today  at 8.45am and the quarter-finals are from 1.30pm.
