DUNTRYLEAGUE has secured a place in the Central Western District Golf Association division one pennant semi-final thanks to a 5-0 win over Wentworth on Sunday.
The win puts Duntryleague into the lead in the Group A division one standings with one round remaining.
The Duntry team has a bye in the final round but is guaranteed a top-two finish and a place in the semi-finals.
It was a dominant display from the Duntry players at home on Sunday.
Top seed Robert Payne accounted for Steve Bray 5 and 3 while Rob Parfett downed Chris Riley 4 and 2.
Playing at number three, Wayne Carpenter beat Darren Keen 7 and 5 and Craig Stojanovic enjoyed the biggest win of the day with a 7 and 6 victory over Rob Clark.
Peter Ferguson won the battle of the number fives against Simon Atkinson 4 and 3.
The win puts Duntry on 2.9 points, 0.2 points ahead of Parkes who will also have a bye in the final round.
Wentworth cannot make the division one semi-finals but could play a deciding role in who does.
After Duntryleague’s 5-0 result against Wentworth last Sunday, Parkes’ hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals rest on the winless Wentworth team upsetting the more fancied Mudgee side.
Mudgee hold their fate in their own hands with a win enough to see them claim the other Group A semi-final spot ahead of Parkes.
In the lower grades, Duntry downed Wentworth 3-2 in division two, 5-0 in division three and 4-1 in division four.
Mudgee was able to topple Orange Ex-Services in the bottom three divisions.
In Group B on Sunday, Dubbo had a 3-2 win over Forbes in division one and Bathurst and Wellington had a bye.
