CHARLES Sturt University’s (CSU) Orange campus welcomed final-year physiotherapy and dental students yesterday.
It is the first time the final year of each course has been held at the campus, having only been introduced a few years ago.
CSU head of campus Dr Heather Robinson said the Bachelor of Dental Science and Bachelor of Physiotherapy courses had proved very popular for CSU Orange.
Dr Robinson said the maximum number of 40 students in each course was reached this year.
“There have been discussions to increase the number [of dental students] but it hasn’t happened this year,” she said.
Dr Robinson said on-campus accommodation had adequately housed all student requests this year, but they had plans to expand.
“We’ve had new residences built in the last couple of years and we’ve got another underway for 2014, with another 100 places,” she said.
Dr Robinson said this year’s intake of 150 new students would add to a total student population of more than 500 at the busy campus.
In addition, there are more than 350 students completing distance education or post graduate education through the Orange campus.
