Charles Sturt University at Wagga Wagga has announced it is including Orange in a bid to secure a medical campus for regional New South Wales, which would provide 60 medical positions for Orange.

However the go ahead for the medical campus is still dependent on CSU Wagga Wagga securing federal funding for 120 positions in the medical school.
CSU Orange says the Federal Government can no longer ignore the statistics, which show that despite some training in regional areas, medical trainees are not returning in the numbers projected.
Mayor of Orange Cr John Davis has welcomed Orange's inclusion in the proposal.
However as the University of Sydney already has an established training system in place with Orange hospital, the details of where any Orange-based medical students will do their practical training will have to be resolved once the medical school gets the go ahead.
