Orange City orthodox spinner Ben Findlay picked up four wickets as his side put its stamp on the derby clash with City Warriors.
Findlay picked up 4-36 from 12 overs and, along with quick Matt Roberts (3-17), regularly troubled the Warriors line-up on its way to all out for 109, putting Orange City in the driver’s seat to claim maximum points and maintain its unbeaten run throughout 2012-13.
Play will resume with the ODCA’s table-topping second grade side cruising to a big win at Riawena Oval.
In another clash of the second grade big guns at Jack Brabham Oval, CYMS have already claimed first innings points against Gladstone thanks to a strong bowling effort.
Led by ageless skipper Peter Snowden (5-28) and backed up by young leggie Pat Madden (4-20), CYMS bowled out the big hitting Gladstone for 123 on day one.
In reply, 62 from young opener Grant Koch and 50 from Dean Turner guided CYMS to first innings points and eventually a 36-run lead when stumps were pulled at 5-159.
Duncan Young is the best of the Gladstone bowlers with 2-10 off six overs.
In the ODCA third grade premiership, Centrals’ have already won its match after Cavaliers forfeited with a lack of player numbers.
Numbers are no issue in the 2012-13 Centenary Cup, however, with a 12-man CYMS Fahys side powering towards a big win over Kinross thirds.
On the back of 75 from James Swanson, the green and gold Fahys put on 232 with the bat in 57 overs.
In reply, the students will have to dig deep from 2-15 at stumps.
Play will resume in all lower grade games this Saturday from 1pm.
