Woman dies in car crash

POLICE are calling for witnesses to a fatal single-vehicle accident at Spring Hill on Thursday afternoon.

At 5.30pm on Thursday a 32-year-old woman was driving her Kia Rio south on Forest Road when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Another driver found the woman, who is believed to be from the Spring Hill area, and provided first aid while contacting emergency services.

Police from Canobolas Local Area Command and emergency services from Orange attended the scene, closing the road for a short time.

The woman was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, with injuries to her leg, arm, chest and head, and died early yesterday morning.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.

Inspector Dave Harvey said anyone with information should contact police immediately.

“We’d really like to speak to any member of the public who saw the accident,” he said.
