Men’s hockey future hangs in the balance

THE future of Orange men’s hockey is in jeopardy.

The Orange Men’s Hockey Association (OMHA) is still without a president and senior vice-president for the looming 2013 season.

The annual general meeting was held last year but had a poor attendance.

The positions of secretary, treasurer, registrar and publicity officer were filled but the key roles of president and senior vice-president remain open.

OMHA publicity officer Wayne Bennett said the two positions needed to be filled in order to allow the season to go ahead.

Bennett added it was the men who needed to step up to fill the roles as women hold the positions of secretary, treasurer and registrar.

A meeting will be held on Monday, February 18, where it is hoped people will come forward to fill the important positions.

The meeting will be held at the Orange Hockey Centre from 7pm with all clubs intending to nominate for the 2013 season requested to have two delegates in attendance.

The men’s association ran two competitions in 2012 with four teams each contesting second and third grade.

It is hoped these numbers will be equalled or bettered in 2013.
