The Occidental Hotel: Part Four

CENTRAL Western Daily journalist Nicole Kuter was invited by the general manager of the Occidental Hotel to report on what the night life is really like after dark.

She spent four hours in the venue from 11.30pm last Saturday.

Her story concludes tomorrow with the fourth instalment in the series: How a night out with friends ended with pepper spray and a trip to the hospital.

-

THIS is how a night out with friends can turn horribly wrong in an instant.

One minute you are having a great time, laughing, dancing, then you decide to leave the venue and head home.

The next minute the police are pouring water into your burning eyes to distil the after effects of pepper spray.

That is the scene that played out a few shops down from the Occidental Hotel on Saturday night at 2.45 am, 15 minutes before closing time.

Read the full and final instalment in tomorrow’s Central Western Daily.
