Council approve extended trading hours despite police video footage

Orange City Council has approved an application by the Occidental Hotel to have their upstairs trading hours extended.

The application asked for the hotel to be able to move the dance floor area upstairs where they would be permitted to sell alcohol until 3am.

The hotel had been operating the upstairs area under a 12 month trial during which the sale of alcohol had to cease at midnight.

During the council meeting police officers from the Canobolas Local Area Command showed CCTV footage of a fight outside the hotel, urging councillors not to approve the application.

Find out what was in the footage and what Canobolas LAC superintendent David Driver thinks about the incident in tomorrow’s print edition of the Central Western Daily.
