Mayor delivers hope for museum

MAYOR of Orange Cr John Davis delivered new hope today to the Orange Regional Museum Advancement Association that the group will finally get their museum after a 20-year battle.

Cr Davis addressed the meeting saying the group now has to move quickly to shore up funding for the museum while plans are currently being prepared.

Several members of the Association and the recently formed reference group expressed their concerns to the Mayor their project has been pushed aside while others have overtaken them and secured financial support from council and state and federal governments.

However the Mayor told members they will have to do some intense lobbying to secure funds for the project as it cannot be fully funded by council.

For a full report of the action to be recommended at next Thursday night's Orange City Council meeting and the views of the Mayor and residents passionate about a museum for Orange, read a full report in Monday's Central Western Daily.
