Power down costs business

TWO Borenore business owners say they've been left more than $1,000 out of pocket thanks to Essential Energy's decision to cut power to the area today.

Nyrang Cafe and Homestead's Stephen Sykes and Andreas Martz say they were given insufficient notice of the power cuts and forced to cancel bookings and turn away customers at the last minute.

The men claim inclement weather and lack of notice should have been enough reason for Essential Energy to postpone its plans.

"It's the weekend, it's the dead of winter," Mr Martz said.

Find out what Essential Energy had to say about the situation in Monday's Central Western Daily.
