How to reduce your winter heating bills

FREEZING conditions this weekend meant householders were turning up the dial on their heating to stay warm.

However, Essential Energy says householders must strike a balance between keeping warm and containing their electricity costs.

"Customers can consider using infra-red heating options, which warm the skin [the same as bathroom heater/fan combinations] rather than trying to warm the air," Essential Energy south eastern general manager Phillip Green said.

Householders need to consider their options when it comes to staying warm in Orange and move away from the model of trying to heat large areas, which can be expensive, according to the energy provider.
