MICHAEL James Plummer faced Orange Local Court yesterday charged with stealing more than $40,000 from his employer.
In facts presented to the court, police allege Plummer, 37, stole varying amounts of money over several months in 2010.
Plummer was employed as a clerk at Linfox Pty Ltd when the alleged offences occurred.
He has been on bail since he was charged by Orange detectives late last year.
Plummer sat quietly in court and his appearance was brief.
He did not enter a plea as this is his first appearance since being charged.
Police evidence before the court alleges Plummer first began stealing from his employer on January 6, 2010 taking $2699.55 in cash and $183.05 in the form of a cheque.
Most of the alleged thefts were in cash.
Police allege the amounts stolen by Plummer varied from the lowest figure of $183.06 on January 1 to the highest figure of $6732.09 in the form of a cheque on January 25, 2010.
From the date of the first alleged theft police claim Plummer continued to steal regularly from the business over the next four months building up from just one or two thefts a month to several in May 2010.
In the last recorded figure police allege Plummer stole was $1391.05.
Of the 19 separate amounts allegedly stolen by plummer, only five were in the form of cheques and the remainder in cash.
Plummer remains on bail until his next court appearance in March.
