CYCLISTS took advantage of the long weekend by taking part in an Animals on Bikes Trail Bike Ride on Monday.
Held as part of the Slow Summer Festival, 25 riders met in Molong for the 44-kilometre round trip.
Along the journey they took in some of the 120 Animals on Bikes sculptures that are scattered from Molong to Dubbo via Cumnock and Yeoval.
Taste Orange project officer Jane Arnott said it was a great event, despite the low numbers, which may have been due to the predicted rain.
“Some people hadn’t done the ride, it was a bit of fun,” she said.
“It think people were really impressed with the creativity of the people of Cumnock.
“It’s a great little project they’ve done.”
The ride took about an hour and 20 minutes for the quick riders, and up to an hour and 40 minutes for the slower riders.
The ride was organised by the Orange Bicycle Users Group.
Mrs Arnott said they usually organised a bike event to coincide with Taste Orange festivals throughout the year.
“We’re trying to work closely with the cycling group to promote cycling,” she said.
“We think it’s a growing trend.”
