Rain boost for apple orchardists

IT is a case of better late than never for Orange's apple orchardists who say weekend rainfall has boosted their crops.

Nashdale orchardist Tim West said the 55mm that fell over his property on the weekend was a welcome relief.

"The constant heat stops the trees," he said.

"When they get to a certain heat they don't do much even though you're irrigating them."

Read what NSW Farmers vice-president and orchardist Peter Darley said markets were looking for with this season's apples.
