Just after 10pm on Monday night the victim pulled over in Hill Street near the Dalton Street roundabout to answer a mobile phone call.
Police allege one of two men pulled open the driver's side door brandishing a knife as he ordered the driver to handover cash.
A second male swung open the back door of the car stealing valuable technology items from the back seat.
Orange detectives are now searching for the two males aged between 16 and 19 years of age with both of Caucasian appearance and one of the males described as having a pony tail.
