Cooler weather helps firies

COOLER conditions have temporarily eased fire conditions across the Canobolas Zone of the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Canobolas Zone firefighters were kept extremely busy over the weekend with two major blazes near Woodstock and Eugowra, with the Eugowra blaze contained overnight in very difficult weather conditions.

Canobolas Zone operations officer Brett Bowden said temperatures in the mid to high twenties have greatly reduced the risk of fires today.

"It's important though that people don't become complacent with temperatures expected to rise into the mid-thirties on Thursday, with the potential for afternoon thunderstorms," he said.

"With a small break in the weather we hope to give some of these crews a break.

"We will still have crews on the ground patrolling and containing fires at Long Point, Eugowra and Woodstock over the next few days."
