DUBBO residents used four times as much water this week than those in Orange despite Burrendong Dam being at 55 per cent capacity.

Suma park is sitting just under 90 per cent capacity yet Dubbo residents do not have water restrictions.Orange is under level two water restrictions yet Mayor John davis said the conditions are still a necessary evil.

"Until we can secure our water we'll have restrictions," he said.

"People are starting to realise with the high temperatures and the dry days that the drought and the trying times we had two and a half years ago could easily come back."

To find out how much water we have been using compared to our Dubbo counterparts read Monday's Central Western Daily.
