Council refuses Dan Murphy’s request to open

ORANGE City Council voted to refuse Dan Murphy's request to open before the rest of the Summer Centre is completed, a move that split council.

However minutes after the vote, councillors Davis, Gander and Duffy put forth a rescission motion to halt the refusal, meaning council will have to deal with the rescission motion before they can officially refuse the application.

The debate was heated at Tuesday night's meeting will the final vote coming down to Cr Davis, Cr Gander, Cr Duffy voting to allow Dan Murphy's to open and Cr Taylor, Cr Jones, Cr Brown, Cr Kidd and Cr Munro voted against them.

Why did the councillors vote this way? See tomorrow’s Central Western Daily.
