Brindabella Airlines takes off in Orange

NEW player in the Orange skies Brindabella Airlines took off from the Orange airport for the first time yesterday with about 30 regional tourism operators, travel agents and councillors.

The airline needs passenger numbers for the Orange to Sydney route to increase by 20,000 over the next year; despite this number there was much optimism from all who attended the official announcement.

Brindabella Commercial manager James Blake said the airline would target Sydney business people who want to travel to the region on day trips however he said he had seen a great deal of interest from  tourists, particularly from the Chinese community.

Mayor John Davis stood firm about his comments that passenger numbers need to increase to 100,000 over the next few years. Find out what he would like to see from the new service in tomorrrow's Central Western Daily
