The two-day event, hosted by the Canobolas 4WD Club, attracted 36 teams from NSW and the ACT to take on the challenging Toperi Park course.
Canobolas 4WD Club publicity officer Greg Simpson explained it was a tough start to the race for many teams.
“The tough terrain proved challenging for all teams as half the competitors in the field were eliminated by the fourth stage of the race,” Simpson said.
The Lithgow 4WD Club had a successful weekend finishing in second place, with the Blue Mountains 4WD Club third.
Each four-wheel drive truck is controlled by a driver and a navigator, and penalty points are deducted if a truck touches the course barrier tape, or becomes stuck or bogged.
Simpson was impressed with the success of the two days.
“We had great support from the local community, and we’ll be donating a portion of the money raised to charities,” he said.
“The weather was perfect and we attracted a large crowd of between 1500-2000 people”.
The annual event is now in its fifth year and offers $5000 in prizemoney.
