THE ANFD Cup has produced two more winners.
Jeremy Cummins and Nicholas Packham were this week announced at the ANFD Rugby Player Scholarship winners.
Cummins, from CSU Orange, and Packham, from Coolah, both played in the 2009 ANFD Cup with their respective clubs but have been rewarded for their off-field efforts in agriculture.
Central West Rugby Union chief executive Peter Veenstra said the two players were worthy recipients of the inaugural scholarships.
“They were two outstanding applicants,” Veenstra said.
“They’re both studying degrees in agriculture.”
Cummins came to CSU Orange from Port Macquarie and played in the ANFD Cup with the students.
He has been involved in cattle judging and has spent 12 months in Northern Territory expanding his knowledge.
When he returned to Orange he took on a management role at the CSU rugby club.
Cummins also manages to fit in a 125 per cent student load so he can complete his degree sooner.
Packham is studying his degree by distance education.
He is working full-time at Coolah’s Haynes Farm Supplies so he can save enough money to attend university full-time next year.
“He showed us his (uni) transcripts and he’s getting maximum marks and had some great comments,” Veenstra said.
Cummins and Packham were each given $1250 scholarships to help them with their agricultural goals.
