ORANGE CYMS under 18s team-mates will become opponents when the Western Academy takes on the Group 10 Development Squad tomorrow.
The two sides will go head-to-head in the under 18s curtain-raiser to the NRL trial between the Bulldogs and the Canberra Raiders in Dubbo at Apex Oval.
There will be two matches with the first Academy side taking on the Group 10 squad while a second Academy team will go up against the Far West Academy.
CYMS’ Matt Egan and Luke Coleman have been with the Western Academy squad since it was picked in October last year.
Egan has been selected to start on the wing for the first Academy side to take on Group 10, while Coleman, a fullback, has been named on the bench.
The Group 10 squad has five CYMS players in Cody Robbins, Jared Regan, Aaron Langby, Tye Wiseman and Mitch Davis.
The boys have already started sledging each other at training with the Group 10 squad members confident they can topple the Academy boys.
Also in the Group 10 squad is Orange Hawks representative Angus Brotherton and Blayney’s Luke Battle, Adam Lowe and Alex Pettit.
Wade Judd coaches the Western Academy and the Group 10 development squad and he expects a tough battle on Saturday.
“There should be some good footy,” Judd said.
“The Far West Academy is playing as well, so there will be 60 to 80 kids on display.
“It’s good for a bit of exposure for the boys.
“Bulldogs and Raiders will have their recruitment managers there. So the boys could could get spotted.”
