DAVID Oates and Max Wicks brought more honours to the Orange and District Pistol Club at the ACT state titles on the weekend.
Oates (pictured) won the state title in master grade for service pistol and in the process equalled the state record with 888/900. He also took gold in A grade service with 863/900.
Wicks was pleased with his scores which took him into master grade for 25 yard service. He was first in A grade on 615/650, beating Oates (597/650) by 18 points. Wicks was also second in service 836/900.
Wicks will be competing in centrefire and air pistol at the Central Western Championships at the Orange range this weekend.
Oates will be challenging Orange clubmate Dean Brus (both A graders) in these matches.
Newcomer Mitchell Meredith will be trying to break from D to C grade in his first competitive matches.
About 60 competitors have entered the nine matches.
Any members or ex-members who can help on the ranges are welcome. Ring 6365-9147 at night for more information.
One detail of air will be shot Friday at 8pm and all matches will continue Saturday and Sunday morning.
Members worked hard to prepare the range last weekend and put in the steps up the hill.
Spectators are welcome to watch some top shooters.
