FORMER Orange Pistol Club member, Helen Lord, will be shooting for a spot on the NSW team when she competes at the Orange Pistol Club's 40th anniversary shoot at the end of the month.

Lord, who began shooting just six years ago, lives in Manildra and is a member of the Parkes Pistol Club.
Lord's husband Peter, who is also a former Orange Pistol Club member, introduced her to pistol shooting and she immediately took to the sport.
It was Lord's performance at the recent state titles in Wagga Wagga that has given her the chance to make the NSW state team.
On a limited preparation, Lord competed remarkably well at the state titles, bringing home two gold medals, a silver and a bronze, shocking even herself.
"It was very surprising because I only had three weeks preparation," said Lord.
"I shot at the Dubbo Central Western Plains Championships and then three weeks later I competed in Wagga."
In Wagga, Lord won gold in the B grade sport pistol with a score of 549/600 and gold in the B grade air pistol with a 361/400.
In the C grade standard pistol, Lord shot a score of 519/600 to secure the silver medal and she won bronze in the D grade 50m pistol with a 456/600.
Lord's score of 549/600 in the sport pistol event ranked her fifth overall and provides her with the opportunity to make the state team.
"I'm a chance to make the state team, so that's what I'm aiming for at the moment, it will all just depend on how I shoot in Orange," she said.
Two other Parkes Pistol Club members also won medals at the state titles.
Lord's husband Peter took out the silver medal in the D grade standard Pistol with a score of 460/600.
The other Parkes member to win a medal was Tony Drabsch who took home gold in the A grade centre-fire with a score of 570/600.
In doing so, Drabsch defeated Olympians David Moore and Bruce Quick in what was a brilliant performance.
