COMPETITION and celebrations brought people together on the weekend for Orange and District Pistol Club's 40th anniversary.
People from across NSW came to compete in the shoot, enjoy the festivities and see the club's new facilities after fire damaged the area in February.
A major part of the celebrations was the unveiling of a plaque naming a range after the late John Harvey, one of the club's founding members.
His wife and life member, Maisie Harvey, fired the first shot after the renaming.
There were a variety of speakers including Member for Orange Russell Turner and life member and founding president John Baird.
In the shoot Orange competitors finished with five firsts, six seconds and four thirds.
Club president and state team member Dean Brus shot 50/50 on his way to winning the A grade centre fire with 557/600.
Former Orange member Helen Lord, now of Parkes, broke grade with a 480 in the D grade 50m pistol.
"It was pretty healthy competition represented right through all the grades," Brus said of the shoot. "It was a really good weekend and feedback was excellent."
The club's next major event will be hosting the Central West Championships in February.
Brus said the club's next project was to fix the path from the club house down a steep hill in time for the Championships.
