LIFE Studios Westoil continued their undefeated march in the Orange Netball Association division one competition with a 45-38 win over Robin Hood on Saturday.
Wet weather meant the 2007 grand final replay was not up to its usual high standard, but the two sides still tested each other.
Westoil captain Mardi Aplin said her side was thrilled to keep their winning run going.
“It was a good game. We only got our lead in the first quarter,” Aplin said.
“I think they scored only one or two goals to our 14 or 15. They won the second quarter and then the rest of the game was pretty even. The first quarter was the difference.”
The game was plagued by dropped ball due to the wet and cold conditions but Aplin said her side could still improve in future games.
Westoil might be the team to beat but Aplin admitted her side still gets worked up about games.
“We still get nervous for these games,” she said.
“I think it does us a world of good. I think it helped us today because we were nervous and we came out firing to get the win.”
After missing out on last year’s grand final, the Westoil players have admitted they don’t want to miss another decider again, so the plan is to keep winning.
“We’d like to stay undefeated,” Aplin said.
“Even if we lost a couple of games, we just aim to be one or two so we can get that second bite of the cherry in the finals if we need it.”
Robin Hood played well but were missing a number of key players.
