ORANGE’S Bernie Diduszko and Cowra’s Gerard Beath are one step closer to defending their Chris Gryllis Real Estate Golden Eagle Pairs Classic title.
The duo couldn’t be beaten in their third and fourth sectional matches at Orange City Bowling Club yesterday.
They downed Garry Cassidy and Paul Ruggiero by 16 shots in the morning round before easily accounting for Bruce LIvingston and Danny Carnervale by 29 shots in the afternoon.
Yesterday’s wins have the defending champs unbeaten in their section after recording a draw and a win on the open day.
They lead their section and a win in this morning’s final round against Gus Wicks and Kevin Beatty will secure them a place in this afternoon’s quarter-finals.
Diduszko and Beath aren’t the only pair who were undefeated after the fourth round yesterday.
The experienced pairing of Molong’s George Ford and Blayney’s Bob Hamilton lead section one with four wins.
Yesterday they were consistent with a six-shot win in the morning followed by a five-shot victory in the afternoon.
They’ll be tested this morning when they take on Bathurst City’s John Archer and Phil Gray who have lost only one match so far.
Mick Djatschenko and Steve Galvin remain unbeaten in section two with a 12-shot win yesterday followed by a 17-shot victory.
Terrigal’s Roy Rogers and David Limbrick sit on top of section three and the South Coast pairing of Leni Levini and Ron Pearman lead section four.
Orange’s Paul David and Greg Campbell are one win away from going through section five undefeated and Inverell’s Darren Hungerford and Doug Newton lead the way in section seven.
All pairs will play their final sectional matches this morning from 9am.
After this the top pair in each section as well as the next best overall duo will contest this afternoon’s quarter-finals from 1.30pm.
