ORANGE’S players at the Australian Men’s Over 40s Veterans Hockey Championships had varying fortunes in finals on Friday in Melbourne.
Darryn Marjoram and Dave Watson progressed to the division one final with the NSW team, which remained unbeaten heading into the decider.
But their undefeated run came to an end on Friday when Victoria won 1-nil to take out the national title.
NSW had earlier beaten Victoria 1-nil in their round robin match.
Marjoram and Watson progressed to the grand final with a 1-nil semi-final victory over Tasmania.
David Milne enjoyed more success in division two than his division one counterparts, as the Orange player helped NSW to victory in the final.
NSW beat NSW 2, which included fellow Orange player Jamie Watson, 3-2 in the decider to take out the national title.
The two NSW teams earlier played out a 2-all draw.
Milne’s team progressed to the final after a 1-all draw against Queensland in the semi-final.
NSW went through the tournament undefeated, winning five games and drawing two.
