JADE Warrender’s 2009 featured another major event on Saturday night as she was named Junior Female Field Player of the Year at the Hockey NSW Awards Night at Bankstown Sports Club.
Warrender received the Dianne Gorman Medal for under 21 players at just 17-years-old following a big year.
The centre-half helped Ex-Services to a second-straight women’s Premier League Hockey final on top of her representative commitments.
Warrender was called into the Jillaroos squad for the Junior World Cup in the United States, where she impressed in the under 21s age group.
She was also named in the NSW Arrows squad for 2010 before suffering a knee injury that requires a reconstruction while playing touch football in Parkes last month.
All this has occurred around Higher School Certificate studies, so the Canobolas Rural Technology High School student has already had a massive year.
Warrender was also involved in a panel discussion at the Hockey NSW awards as the Orange player and fellow Jillaroos Emily Hurtz and Harriet Moore talked about the Junior World Cup and their future aspirations.
Orange featured for a second time at the Hockey NSW awards on Saturday night as former resident and NSW and Australian representative Joy Payne was inducted into the Hockey NSW Hall of Fame.
Payne was unable to attend, however, as she was in Orange for an Orange High School reunion.
