Tomorrow’s individual stableford event (two-ball in conjunction) provides golfers in the respective A-, B- and C-Grades with their last opportunity to fine-tune their games leading into the club championships.
Perusing the timesheet,a group that stands out comprises Matt French, Rob Parfett, Jamie Stedman and Marco Pasquali.
This quartet could well engage in a shootout to decide the question as to who is the longest hitter at Duntryleague, with French and Stedman often touted as pretenders to the coveted throne.
Rob Parfett’s legendary accuracy will keep the above duo on their toes, while Pasquali, after a spell in the golfing doldrums, is reported to be returning to his mercurial best and will undoubtedly be inspired by playing with golfing royalty.
Media baron Dave Miller is expected to take advantage of benign early morning conditions and reports from the track indicate that since overcoming life-threatening back surgery the Rabbitohs tragic is poised to give tomorrow’s event a real shake.
Trevor Williams is another in form player and with a few runs under his belt and a lucrative handicap to assist look for him on the presentation dias.
Timesheets for the opening rounds of the 2012 West Orange Toyota Strokeplay Championships are in the pro shop and are filling up rapidly.
The opening round, set down for tomorrow week, is generously sponsored by Gilchrist Business Breakers, while the Sunday round, which doubles as the first qualifying round of the club matchplay championships, has the sponsorship support of Reliance Petroleum.

Last Saturday’s Monthly Medal, sponsored by West Orange Motors, drew an excellent roll-up of 183 players.
Relatively new member Rex Cochrane played superbly to card nett 66, which claimed A-Grade and February Medal honours.
Rob Jones was runner up with nett 67 just in advance of Bob Alexander’s 68.
Alexander was on target to challenge for honours until a painful double bogey on the 15th and bogey’s on the 17th and 18th saw his challenge fade out.
Grant Barrett backed up a winning performance a fortnight ago with a near medal-winning performance of nett 66 to lose on a countback.
His fine effort enabled his to claim B-Grade bragging rights ahead of John Farquharson’s nett 68. Hugh Johnston was third with nett 70 on a countback.
Ron King, another recent Saturday grade winner, continued his purple patch, posting nett 70 to land C-Grade in advance of the evergreen Jim Parfett (nett 71) and Barry Woodley (nett 71).
The overall NTP again fell to the sharp-shooting Jim Parfett, who gunned an iron to within 30cm of the 7th pin.
The prestigious Medal of Medals playoff was held in conjunction with last Saturday’s event and this fell to the skills of one of the club’s most promising golfers James Conran.
Conran’s impeccable bloodlines helped him post a solid nett 70 to grab the spoils, leaving some of our top golfers in his wake.
Last weekend’s putt for cash saw one of our men of league visitors attempt to win the jackpot from 6 metres. But his efforts were in vain, ensuring the jackpot rises to $2300 this Friday.
