EX-SERVICES edged ahead in their all-Orange battle with Duntryleague in Sunday’s Central Western District Golf Association division 3A round.
Playing at Bathurst, Duntryleague claimed the win in the No.1s match, with Bill Foran recording a strong 6 and 5 victory over Ian ‘Bluey’ Walker.
Duntryleague also won the No.5s battle, with Eddie Basha getting ahead 2 and 1 against Bruce Glover.
It was the middle three who grabbed the win for Orange Ex-Services.
Brendan Breitnauer downed Peter Campbell 3 and 2, Wally Hennessy edged out Murray Gilchrist 2 and 1 and John D Davis won 1 up against Brandon Gathercole.
The win was a great start to the season for the Ex-Services players, who sat out the opening round with a bye.
Manildra are yet to win a game after losing 5-0 to Mudgee on the weekend.
Manildra lost by the same margin to Duntryleague in the opening round.
They’ll have another challenge in this Sunday’s third round when they take on Ex-Services at Mudgee.
Duntryleague will go up against Bathurst.
Division 3B will kick off its season this Sunday in Cowra, with the hosts taking on Wellington and Dubbo playing Wentworth.
After division two and division four were washed out last Sunday, it is hoped they can get back on the greens again this week.
