KINROSS Wolaroi rowers claimed bronze in a solid showing at the NSW Rowing Sprint Championships on the weekend.
Competing on Saturday, a group of 20 rowers from the school were on-hand at the Sydney Olympic Course for the coveted event.
The rowers competed in single sculls, double sculls, quad sculls and the coxed IV events for both boys and girls, covering the age groups from under 16 through to under 19.
All of the races were hotly contested with 16 crews or more in most events.
Seventy percent of the Kinross Wolaroi crews made the A finals.
There were many outstanding performances including that of Borjan Kosarac who won the bronze medal in the under 19 single scull ahead of fancied opposition from the top clubs in Sydney.
The boys under 16 quad scull of Michael Nagy, Matthew Whittaker, Tim Trethowan and Michael Pickford also won a bronze medal.
They were joined by the under 16 girls quad scull of Jordan Duffy Watson, Emily O’Brien, Harriet Hain and Olivia Hordynsky who also claimed bronze.
The sprint championships results were pleasing for the coaching staff and showed good promise for the 2008 season.
Next year crews will be competing over the 2000 metres distance in February at the NSW State Championship, the National Championships in March and the Head of the River in April.
