No stopping Dad and Daves in massive victory

THE Hotel Orange Dad and Daves pulled out all stops for a big 10-1 over the Ophir Gold Diggers in the men’s A grade darts competition.

The Gold Diggers have been playing some good, consistent darts but could not match the Dad and Daves’ firepower on the night.

Rob Crowe had a quiet night with big scores, hitting 100 and 140, while the other Dad and Dave top scores were Ken Kostitch (100, 2x140), Brad White (100, 2x121, 125), Jay Jordan (3x100, 140), Will Owers (2x105, 140) and Kevin Owers (2x100, 118).

Mark Diduszko saved the Gold Diggers from a nudie run by winning his singles for the Gold Diggers’ lone point but he didn’t get a score of 100 or more.

Matthew Caughlan (2x100, 120, 140), Max Dennis (100, 101, 140), Mark Williams (100, 121), John Cooper (100, 121) and Scott Griffiths (2x100, 125) got the big scores.

Victoria Spitfires played hard for their 7-4 win over the Victoria Socialites.

Aaron Osborne again ran up a huge tally of eight 100s, 121, 125 and 140 for the Spitfires, with good backing from Adam Horton (100, 158), Wayne Wallace (2x100, 3x140), Greg Sharkey (3x100) and Rod Southwell (100).

Ben McIntosh (2x100), Damien Caughlan (2x100, 103), Cameron Hart (121, 140), Norm Foley (137, 2x140) and Ian Thomas (100) got the big scores for the Socialites.

Great Western Tigers just got home 6-5 over the Metro Sea Hunters after taking an early lead.

Dave Whitmore, with another 180, two 100s, 125 and 140, led the Tigers’ scorers while John Prior (2x100, 125), Tony Crowhurst (2x100, 92 peg out), Barry Wicks (4x100), Denis Gregory (2x100) and Adam Ross (3x100, 107) were the other Tigers to hit the mark.

Top scorers for the Sea Hunters were Barry Briggs, who also hit a 180, 140 and 160, Brian Hardy (100), Michael Salmon (100,) Mitch Kennewell (3x100, 118, 120, 121) and Jason Hurford (3x100, 140).

In B grade the Ophir Nuggets had a solid 7-4 win over the Royal Half Dozen and got some big scores along the way, led by Ted Madden (100, 125, 140), Peter Bennett (117), Terry McInnes (124, 125), Chris Kelly (100), Chris Swain (100) and Darren Goodlock (100).

The Half Dozen top scores were hit by Scott Willcockson (116), Bradley Walker (3x100), Paul Schwarz (100, 120) and Tony Merlino (116).

The Carrington Redbacks had a win over the Royal T’s but failed to record the final scores on their sheet.

The Redbacks’ top scorers were Dennis Horton (100, 125), Rob Jakes (100) and Jason Lindsay (107).

Steve Leonard hit the big 180 and 100 for the Ts and was backed up with some big scores from Dan Allen (3x100, 2x120), Peter Haranis (140), Troy Marrak (2x100, 140), Luke Marrak (100, 120) and Matthew Jordan (100).

C grade had a general bye for the round.

An open darts competition will be played at the Victoria Hotel next weekend with doubles for men and women on Saturday.

Nominations close at 9.15am and play will start at 10am.

Men and women singles will be played Sunday.

There will be a $1,500 prize pool and a consolation prize pool for non-representative players.
