KINROSS Wolaroi School rowers proved themselves against the best in the country with two fourth places at the National Rowing championships in Penrith last week.

Declan Michell started the week-long regatta well for the school-based club, finishing fourth in the under 17 boys Single Scull.

The feat is made more impressive with Michell rowing up an age group so a medal at next year’s championships is definitely a possibility.

On Sunday, in the schools section of the championships, the senior girls Quad crew performed outstandingly to finish fourth out of 42 crews which was the best result for a NSW boat.

The crew was stroked by Grace Michell with Eloise Eveleigh, Eloise Daniel, Laura Wannan and cox Kathryn Pasquali also on board.

Earlier in the week the under 17 boys Quad Scull finished seventh while Borjan Kosarac narrowly missed a place in the under 19 Single Scull final.

Two under 17 girls Quad Scull crews came third and fourth in their semi-final but were knocked out of the competition.

Last Sunday, Kosarac finished in the top 14 single scullers in the country following strong performances in a heat and repêchage.

The senior boys Quad Scull took out the

B-final of their event with the under 17 VIII beating out some of Sydney’s prestigious

private schools in their final in the schools section of the regatta.

Kinross are already looking towards next year’s national championships with the hope of improving further on their performances this year.

They will continue training with the Head of the River regatta looming at the end of the month.
