TONIGHT’S Royal Hotel Cup match is important for Cavaliers and Kinross but for different reasons.
Cavaliers need to keep winning in order to maintain their position on top of the day-night competition ladder and secure a place in the final.
Kinross need to win to give themselves a chance of making the final but they have another focus as well.
The students are keen to get as many points as possible for the Orange District Cricket Association first grade competition, which the Royal Hotel Cup counts towards.
Kinross are currently fourth on the overall ladder on 40 points.
After CYMS won Wednesday night’s Royal Hotel Cup round, they moved onto 40 points as well.
However, Kinross hold onto fourth place due to a superior quotient.
One thing working in the students’ favour is they have a game in hand compared to the other teams in the Royal Hotel Cup.
They have played two games to date with a loss to Centrals followed by a win over City Warriors.
Cavs have played three games with wins against CYMS and Centrals but had their match against City Warriors washed out and they had to settle for a draw.
Cavaliers are on top of the Royal Hotel Cup ladder on 20 points with Centrals.
Orange City are a further two points behind on 18 and CYMS moved into fourth on 16 points thanks to their win on Wednesday.
Tonight’s match at Wade Park will start at 5.30pm.
