Centrals will take on CYMS in the day-night match at Wade Park, with both teams missing senior players.
Bowlers Dan Sandford and Nick Duffy have been ruled out for Centrals with injury while Jarrod Simpson, Wes Roweth and Adam Shepherd all have work commitments.
Walker is still confident Centrals will field a competitive side.
“It’ll be ok. It’s a good chance for some of the second graders to step up because they’ve been doing well,” Walker said.
“We’ll just go out there and hopefully it won’t rain and we’ll get a game. We just have to try and do our best.”
Players such as Walker and Nick Dunlop will need to be in form with the bat for Centrals.
But they’re not the only ones.
“We’ve still got Mitch Harvey and Chris Hutchinson. There’s still plenty of experience there,” Walker said.
Harvey has been the best with the bat for Centrals this season.
In nine matches he has scored an impressive 301 runs, including a highest score of 80.
Dunlop has managed 197 and a season’s best of 71.
Tonight’s match is an important one for Centrals as they fight to stay in Royal Hotel Cup final contention.
They are in a share of second place on the ladder with Orange City.
The two teams are tied on 18 points, two behind leaders Cavaliers.
A win for CYMS tonight would rocket them into final contention as they currently sit on the bottom of the ladder on eight points.
CYMS will field a young side in tonight’s match with senior players such as Dave Neil and Al Dhatt unavailable.
Instead Hamish Finlayson will lead the youthful team as they chase their first Royal Hotel Cup win for the season.
Tonight’s match between Centrals and CYMS will be played at Wade Park from 5.30pm.
CYMS: Hamish Finlayson (c), John Warrington, Adam Smith, Ed Morrish, Sam Dwyer, Grant Koch, Nick Moran, Nick Wright, Pat Madden, Tom Satterthwaite, Chris Kostoglou, Mitch Kennedy.
