ROCK band Magic Dirt will headline a diverse line-up of acts at Orange’s Freshly Plucked Festival in November.
The Freshly Plucked committee announced the initial line-up for this year’s festival on Friday.
Australian acts The Fumes, The Jezabels, Claude Hay and Dreadnaught will perform alongside locally-grown artists Deprivation, EQD and 2009 Battle of the Bands winners Makeshift Plague, from Broken Hill.
The line-up is more diverse than in previous years and will cater for lovers of blues and roots music as well as metal and rock.
“I think it’s an awesome line-up, it’s really diverse and solid,” Freshly Plucked project officer Tara Selwood said.
The committee is also negotiating with some electronic acts to peform at the festival and will announce more artists, including the full list of local bands, in coming weeks.
Orange City Council youth development officer Jason Lowe said this year’s festival was likely to be the biggest Freshly Plucked yet.
“The festivals have been growing every year and this is the biggest that we’ve had,” he said.
“There’s a great line-up this year.”
The festival will also include market stalls, street theatre and an interactive Black Dog store to raise awareness of depression among young people in the Central West.
The Freshly Plucked Festival will be held at Orange Function Centre on November 7 from 1.30pm.
Tickets go on sale on September 28 through Ticketek and selected outlets.
